At St Bedes/Mentone Tigers AFC, it is expected all players behave in a manner that exemplifies respect and good sportsmanship.

This includes – during games, at training, in all interactions with umpires, other players, opposition coaches, officials and clubs, and with SBMT coaches, volunteers and supporters.

It is expected that every SBMT player will:

  • Be a great team player – have fun and support teammates. Acknowledge and encourage the efforts of others.
  • Show respect for coaches, and for the volunteers supporting the team. This means accepting coaching decisions, asking questions if you are unclear, and playing for the benefit of the team overall.
  • Show respect for opposition players, coaches and officials. This includes respecting differences and never sledging or making inappropriate remarks. The SBMT AFC will not tolerate any player making comments or suggestions to any other player or official that are based on race, religion, gender or ability.
  • Raise any concerns they may have on game day, or at training, directly with their parent / supporter or coach.

PARENTS, VOLUENTEERS & SUPPORTERS

At St Bedes/Mentone Tigers AFC, our purpose is to provide a positive sporting environment where players of all ages, levels and abilities, are supported to develop their skills, to have fun in a team environment and to grow their love of our great game.

It is expected all parents, volunteers and supporters behave in a manner that role models respect and good sportsmanship. This includes – during games, at training, in all interactions with umpires, other players, opposition coaches, officials and clubs, and with SBMT coaches, officials and supporters.

It is expected that all SBMT parents, volunteers and supporters will:

  • Encourage and support the players as they develop their skills and capabilities. Do not criticise.
  • Understand the rules of the game and demonstrate respect for umpires. This includes accepting the umpires’ decision and refraining from making any derogatory comments to or about umpires.
  • Always show respect for coaches and all volunteers supporting the team. Volunteers are giving their own time and doing the best they can for the players and the team. Abuse of club officials/volunteers will not be tolerated.
  • Demonstrate respect for opposition players, coaches, volunteers and officials. This includes, respecting differences and never sledging or making inappropriate remarks.
  • Role model and reinforce that footy is about learning, having fun and participating. It is not about winning at all costs or being the best player on the ground. The contribution of every player is valued.
  • At all times demonstrate respect for opposition players, coaches, volunteers and officials. This includes, respecting differences and refraining from sledging or making inappropriate remarks. The SBMT AFC will not tolerate any parent, volunteer or supporter making comments or suggestions to any other player or official that are based on race, religion, gender, or ability.
  • Raise any concerns they may have on game day, or about any aspect of the competition or football club through the appropriate channel. Concerns can be raised with the Team Manager on game day in the first instance, and the Team Manager or Coach for any other matter.
