Last weekend we celebrated the third annual Tiger Day at Brindisi St. We were treated with senior footy at home all day with our 3rds taking the win over Beaumaris, and our reserves and senior men playing Fitzroy with both a win and a loss. Our senior women's team has just last week been moved into a new division from C to B. This has presented some challenges, but our women have brilliantly risen above them all and forged ahead last weekend. Incredibly there were twelve senior women players who played in both the reserves and the senior women's match due to so many of our players being unavailable because of injury or playing with VFLW/AFLW teams. Some of our women’s players are in their first season of football, so this is a huge commitment. All of our senior teams embodied the spirit of our club on the weekend and made us so very proud.
During the Tiger Day celebrations with little Auskickers out on the ground, parents helping serve food, music from our U17 team players’ band, women and men senior players all coming together after hard matches, junior players having a kick-to-kick, and later on SBMT people from across the club standing together watching the fireworks, I was struck by how lucky we are. We have a great club, with amazing people.
Lastly, be good to your mums this Sunday! (Actually, be good to them always but especially on Mother's Day.) I hope all our SBMT mothers/aunts/grandmothers/significant women enjoy a wonderful day being spoilt by their families.
