The following Club news articles appeared on the club's original website between 2003 and 2016 inclusive.

historic-pavilionThe club has been in regular meetings with Kingston City Council since September and an architect has been appointed. Ideas and designs are being worked through with a view to have them completed for members to see around March 2017. At that point, there will be fine-tuning and a final report to Council between May and July with the project going out to tender in August. We are hoping for a start date in September 2017. The club has been pushing for a sporting and community hub to be built in stages so that other user groups such as Mentone Mustangs Basketball Club and Mentone Clovers Netball Club can secure a home base of an office and merchandising area and later on have two multipurpose courts built on the Remo Street land behind the clubrooms. Mark Tyquin, Shaun Napier, Fiona Lawrence and Peter Davis are heading up this sub-committee. An acknowledgement should be made to the Premier Daniel Andrews who backed us with a $1 million dollar commitment and Tim Richardson MP for his advocacy.

The club is reaching out to all families to donate $25 and make these projects a success. If can afford a larger donation, much appreciated. Tax deductable donations can be made with a few clicks at our webpage on the Australian Sports Foundation website:- These video screens will allow us to showcase both our club and players on match days and open up a new sponsorship stream. The club is humbled by the monetary gift of Peter Kerr who passed away on 7 January 2016 and the strong support of Isaacs MP Mark Dreyfus and Hotham MP Clare O'Neil in providing the bulk of these monies. I also call out to members to consider taking on a role, big or small or for a specific event to ensure the club in 2017 assists our players and continues to grow. The new Board's first action will be to seek members who have marketing expertise to join a strategic sub-committee to maintain and grow our sponsorship base which is vitally important. We will also be looking for committee members for the VAFA, SMJFL and House committees plus parents who can assist with the growth of girls and women's footy. If you can become involved, fantastic, if you are time poor, have a chat to our people and put your hand up for a specific job and let's keep our club strong. Peter Davis Board Secretary
