Luke Wintle & Bernie Beasley Life Members

Both Luke Wintle and Bernie Beasley were inducted as Life Members at the club's Annual General Meeting last night. After 12 seasons and eight years as club captain Luke was deemed to be a worthy recipent. Bevo Snapped Up By Pies

In an inspired move Collingwood has snapped up our 2008 A Section Premiership Coach Luke Beveridge as their new Development Coach Manager. Bevo has an unmatched coaching record, having led the Tigers to three successive premierships while moving up a section level each year from C in 2006 to A Section this season, the first side to do so in VAFA history. Bevo played 118 AFL games for Melbourne, Footscray and St Kilda, and comes from a strong footballing bloodline that includes his grandfather Jack, who played 148 games for Collingwood, and his father John, who has been involved in recruiting at St Kilda for over 25 years. The Last Trophy To Be Had!

Another piece of silver was added to the 2008 trophy cabinet when the SBMT foursome took out the annual VAFAUA Charity Golf Tournament. We hope more VAFA clubs get on board next year and participate in this fantastic event which donates all its proceeds to the Elise Sneddon Foundation supporting the Royal Children’s Hospital Neo-natal Unit. Well, firstly let everyone know that we are breathing the air after our team took off the A Section flag . Our opponents Collegians are an outstanding club and to win against them on three out of four encounters says something. To our fellow VAFA clubs we hope you see SBMT as a signal that you can get from D4 to the top of the mountain. And to be honest winning an A Section premiership believe it or not tastes the same as a D4, just ask our president from 1990-2 Michael Atherton.
